    Re: Next week predictions

    I could be wrong, have been wrong before, but I have known these boys from JJK since they were in Pnut. I've spent alot of time with them, know what kind of character that they have. This is not the same ol Wise crew that is going to fold. We were flat out embarrassed on the defensive side of the ball at Clintwood Friday. I know this has not set well with them because they know that they are much more capable than what was shown Friday. Having said that, we moved the ball well just like we have all year (minus the Norton game). Appalachia will be no different. Just as we have to worry about Ireson and Leedy, the Dawgs will have to worry about Strouth and Sproles. I have a tremendous respect for that program at Appalachia. Folks know this (have made no secret about it). To win at Riggs, the TRIBE will finally put together a complete game. Much like the Wave putting their best game of the year at our expense, the Indians will put together their best effort of the year, and it will come at Appy's expense. You know me: if I didn't completely believe that, I would not say it. I have always been straight up and called a spade a spade in regards to Indian football. I have been raked over the coals many times from the "Kelly fans" for some honest and accurate assessments over the years. If I didn't feel that things were turning around, I would say so. If I am wrong, i'll get on here Friday night and post that I am wrong (something alot of folks on here cannot seem to be able to do). The game at Appalachia is going to be a 4 quarters of hell war. Our team needs to get their pride and a little respect back. Go get 'em BIG RED!

    Ireson is the district 100m champ...so if anyone else claims to be the fastest back in the LPD, they need to come out in the spring and prove it IMO.
    ...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

    <span style='font-family: Arial Black'><span style='font-size: 11pt'>Powell Valley vs Pound</span></span>
    I don't know if PV has turned the season around with the win over GC, but they looked much better than they have since early season. For the Vikings to be serious contenders to the Region D Div II title, they have to get back to the level they were playing at when they beat Lebanon. It's been a tough season for Pound, and they often get crucified on this forum for the unrealistic expectations many of their fans put on their teams and the fall out. But, I get a sense that some positive things are happening in Pound and Crabtree is making a positive impact. At any rate, this is a mismatch game. Vikes should get a decisive win here.

    <span style='font-family: Arial Black'><span style='font-size: 11pt'>Appalachia vs JJ Kelly </span></span>
    This could surprisingly be the game of the week in the district. The Dawgs and Indians should match up pretty well in this game. Both teams have had some success and disappointment this season. I wouldn't expect anything less than a hard-fought game. Appy has the home field advantage, and I think they'll get the win.

    <span style='font-family: Arial Black'><span style='font-size: 11pt'>Clintwood vs JIB</span></span>
    Always an exciting game. There are many factors here that could change the outlook of this game, not the least of which is the injuries JIB has had this season. Playing without Coleman is a huge disadvantage to the Raiders. For Clintwood, it depends on which team shows up to play, and if they show up to play. It could be the team that gave PV and JJK all they could handle, or it could be the team that was down 21-3 to Gate City at the half. It's anybody's guess.
    <span style='font-family: Arial Black'>
    <span style='font-size: 11pt'>Gate City vs Lee High</span></span>
    If anyone is underestimating the Generals, I think they're making a big mistake. Everything I've heard and read about Lee High is that they have come a long way this season since losing to PV. Gate City has been up and down with a huge win over Clintwood and disappointing loss to PV. I think this will be another good game, but Lee High has the edge in this one.

    Re: Next week predictions

    Powell Valley/Pound- This game will get ugly in a hurry. Phil has no compassion for anyone and he will run the score up on the Wildcats if nothing more than to try to prove a point in the Region with the playoffs just around the corner. There is no ifs/ands/buts about it, if Powell Valley has the worst game of the year and Pound has their best, PV still wins. I hate to say it, but the Wildcats are lacking a few things right now that makes a football team, especially in the LPD. Dakota Cantrell will show his former team just how good he is when he runs ramped in Pound Friday night.

    Appalachia/Kelly- This could end up being a very good game. Kelly has speed backs that run hard. Appalachia always has hard running backs and this year they have some speed to add to it. These 2 teams are a lot alike this season and they have a lot to play for, PLAYOFFS. Both teams need every point they can get to ensure themselves a playoff spot. This could end up being a slobber knocker for 4 quarters, but I am going with the Indians to edge the Bulldogs in the last drive of the game. 28-24.

    Clintwood/J.I. Burton- 2 LPD undefeateds battling it out with what could end up being the game that decides the LPD champion and the automatic birth into the playoffs. If Clintwood wins, Burton will still be playin on Saturdays, but if Burton wins, Clintwood will still have to finish the season strong to solitify a spot in the play off picture. Speed vs. Strength, the ultimate battle of 2 powers that are completely opposite. Burton looks to strike quick and take very little time off the clock as they do it, while Clintwood looks to slow the tempo down with a ground and pound style of offense that chews up a lot of clock. Both Defenses are very stingy, the majority of the time, they have that bend, but don't break mentality. Both are very solid and do not give up a lot. Whoever imposes their will on the other and makes them play their game will win. I am going with Clintwood to win a close game that comes down to the final few minutes to decide it. Clintwood 24-20

    Gate City/Lee High- I am going with Lee High to roll in this game. I don't know why, but I have a feeling the Generals roll 35-20 and the Devils start scrambling to find a way in to the playoffs.
    The LPD is the best district in the state of Virginia.
